At Audiology Central, we consider ourselves part of our greater Brooklyn family.
Our kids go to school with your kids and our parents socialize with yours. We try to convey that feeling of close-knit family in everything we do because we know that family is the most important for all of us.
As part of our community outreach program we perform hearing screenings in schools all around Brooklyn. School year largely coincides with fluid season, and many children will have decreased hearing ability when their ears are not up to par. Even a slight decrease in hearing, however temporary, can cause difficulties with speech and language development, academic performance, and social problems. It is important to identify a need for follow-up so that our children have no barriers to communication and learning.
In addition to screening for hearing loss, we are now able to perform screenings for Auditory Processing deficits. Auditory processing is what we do with what we hear. Children who have normal hearing and exhibit auditory processing issues frequently function like hearing-impaired kids, especially in less than ideal listening environments, like typical classrooms. They tend to do well one-on-one but "fall apart" whenever there are distractions in the room.
St. Francis College Health & Welness Expo
On April 24th, 2019 Audiology Central took part in the annual Health & Wellness Expo organized by St. Francis College in Brooklyn NY.
This expo is one of the larger ones in the borough of Brooklyn and brings together more then 50 premier local health services providers.
Our team interructed with hundreds or visitors, conducted free hearing screenings, dispensed a lot useful information as well as some cool giveaways.
